With a vision to showcase the popularity of slow fashion in Bangladesh, Friendship Colors of the Chars will launch a stunning fashion show titled ‘A Night of Traditions’ at the Grand Ballroom of InterContinental Dhaka on 25 November 2022. has been held. Soon in the world of fashion on the move, celebrations were meant to celebrate the happiness of craftsmen’s slow, hand-crafted creations.

Event attendees can attest to the fact that this was nothing like any other fashion show they have witnessed. The historical illustration of how to prioritize reaching poor communities in otherwise unreachable areas was a treat for all in attendance.
The opening speech by Nazra Mahabeen Sabet, Director of Operations, Friendship Colors of the Chars, shed light on the thinking behind the organization’s journey and collection.

“Our fabrics are different from what we usually see. We only use traditional weaving techniques and unique patterns of dyeing, printing and embroidery. Female weavers and the earth We hope you enjoy decorating our collections in the same way that we create them.”
The opening act featured the journey of a girl forced to marry a man twice her age, fulfilling all her dreams and hopes of making a name for herself. The story then continues to show that years of torture and suffocation by marriage had left her alone and looking for some sunshine to turn her life around. There is, assuring her that there is still light at the end of the tunnel so she can earn a living for herself.

After the opening act, a beautiful collection by Imam Hassan was exhibited in six different segments: Handlooms, Jamdani, Khadi, Heritage, Upcycle and Global. Talented choreographer Azra Mahmood has put together a show for the audience that is unique and the best concept show of the year. All the garments on display were handcrafted and included unique patterns and shades of natural dyes in various sarees, kurtas, scarves, jewellery, etc.
The star of the show was Sadia Islam Mou, who left the audience in awe of her aura with her breathtaking performance. Her Mou, featuring her concept of Heritage, looked so glamorous in Ash’s blue and yellow sari, made from natural fabrics, honoring 15th-century Bengal architectural monuments. .
